Poole

first trip to Poole. sandy bottom = no boots :-)

what a fantastic location. it's all of 5m from the car to the water at high tide. mind you, there is a concrete sea wall and slippery slip way so it's not the easiest place to lauch without kit damange :-( had a couple of near scrapes but got away with it

gusty 5.0m weather, happily sailing in both straps but need to practice goofy more

Daymer Bay

3 days of 5m weather! took all my sails down and used just one! friday was underpowered - it had been gusty 4.7m weather all morning but by the time we arrived it had tailed off. saturday it blew an absolute gale!!!! could barely stop the board blowing away in the gusts, let alone the sail...

and sunday was awesome... a perfect force 6, 25knots or there abouts (according to someone's fancy wind meter) with the sun shining. only downside was having to drive back to London in the evening :-(

climbing

well climbing yesterday was great fun. it took forever to get 12 miles across london (could've been most of the way to the coast instead), but once there it was worth it. did an intro course outlining safety and the basics of belaying, climbing and bouldering. no doubt we'll be going back again once winter kicks in and it's tool cold to get on the water.

there's also an indoor climbing wall at the westway which is about half the distance (and hopefully time!). We're going to check it out next time and compare the two before deciding which one to stick with.

at last

£175. think i might change career and become a locksmith. ok he had to cut / drill / whatever the old locks out before he could fit the new ones and the whole job took just over an hour, but £175! glad i'm not paying for the work... still, it's all fixed now and i can finally move my kit back into the garage.

thewindmap.com

Google have launched GoogleMaps which in itself is just another online map allowing you to scroll around... BUT... the clever bit is that people can create their own maps with markers for just about any purpose! A great example is thewindmap.com which provides details of windsurfing spots around the world.
