Gwithian

Timo Mullen during the BWA Cornwall Wave Classic at Gwithian

It's been a week of firsts, after my first South Easterly trip to Kimmeridge earlier in the week, Saturday brought about my first trip down to Gwithian. And what an opener, logo+, cross-off, 4.7 weather but with a lack of wind just where you needed it to get out through the impact zone.

Luckily while the sets were big (4m @ 19sec does that), they were pretty well spaced with a decent break to get out. The only problem was sailing around low tide as the waves were tending to close out. Atlantic logo+ waves closing out are mast breakers and there were plenty of broken masts being carried back up the beach. I chickened out of going for many a top when I saw the peak forming... Some great aerials being pulled by the pros in the Cornwall Wave Classic but not for me.

So a perfect couple of opening sessions for the quad, am really starting to get a feel for the board. The tighter I try and go through the bottom turn the more the board rewards you in the top turn. Lovely.

Craig and I sailed until we could hardly move. The gusty conditions meant the session can't be classed as epic but it was pretty awesome.
